KATHMANDU, JUNE 5 — Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chair Rabi Lamichhane held talks with Sergio Gor in New Delhi on Thursday during his five-day visit to India.
Following the meeting, Gor shared details through a social media post, stating that discussions centered on strengthening the Nepal–United States partnership and expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest. He emphasized that the United States highly values its longstanding friendship with Nepal and remains committed to working together to promote prosperity, economic opportunities, and shared democratic values.
According to Gor, the meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views on regional developments, bilateral relations, and future avenues of collaboration between Nepal and the United States. He expressed confidence that continued dialogue and engagement would further deepen ties between the two countries.
Lamichhane is currently in India at the invitation of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). During the visit, he has held a series of high-level meetings with senior Indian leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, and other prominent BJP officials.
The visit is being viewed as an important diplomatic and political engagement for the RSP leader, who has sought to strengthen international connections and gain insights into regional political and governance issues.
Sergio Gor had previously visited Nepal in April, where he met separately with Lamichhane and other leaders of the Rastriya Swatantra Party. Those discussions reportedly focused on democratic governance, political reforms, and broader Nepal–US relations.
Before concluding his India trip and returning to Nepal on Friday, Lamichhane visited the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. Accompanied by members of his delegation, he offered prayers at the temple and participated in religious observances.
The RSP delegation included Lamichhane’s spouse Nikita Poudel, Co-General Secretary and lawmaker Bipin Acharya, lawmaker Deepak Bohara, and other party representatives.
Party leaders described the India visit as a significant opportunity for political dialogue, diplomatic outreach, and strengthening relations with regional and international stakeholders. They also expressed hope that the engagements held during the visit would contribute to enhancing Nepal’s international partnerships and cooperation in the years ahead.
